I can remember where i was living when (i think) i
heard "Down in the Desert" on Peel: so it must have
been sometime between Sept 1991 - when I moved from
Portsmouth to Brighton, after travelling to see TWR in
Southampton (supported by Midway Still) on the 29th
Aug - my birthday.and March 1992. 

Strange it wasn't a 'Ruby Sea' song given the timing.
Maybe "Down in the Desert" was more Jimmy Reed or
Beefheart to his ears (he was a fan of them wasn't
he?). 

'Ruby Sea' songs I heard on the same station, Radio 1,
played by someone called "Mark" who became better
known when he got a show co-hosted w/ an ex-Fall
bloke. Mark and Lard. I don't know his surname. "Lard"
was also a Mark. Mark Reily. Sure UK readers can fill
these blanks.  

I remember "Christmas Skies" segued with "Paris,
Texas" by Ry Cooder (and "Some Velvet Morning"?)
